Cheeze Steaks, Pretzel Buns and 100+ Beers at LA’s Vegan Beer Festival

A fixture in West Hollywood since 2010, California’s wildly popular annual Vegan Beer & Food Festival is moving on up—to the famous Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena.

Previously packed into a tight spot on the Sunset Strip, the new digs will be bigger, fancier and far more appropriate for an audience that numbers in the thousands.

LA+Vegan+Beer+and+Food+FestivalThe folks behind the vegan beer festival are long-term vegan Nic Adler (owner of LA’s famous The Roxy Theatre), Tony’s Darts Away and blogger QuarryGirl.

This year’s event is scheduled for May 16th at the Rose Bowl Stadium, and it’ll feature 40 restaurants and food vendors, plus unlimited pours from 40 breweries featuring more than 100 different vegan beers. Deschutes Brewery, Ace Cider, Saint Archer Brewing Company, Golden Road Brewing are a few of this year’s participants.

As far as herbivorous eats, Mud Hen Tavern, Mama’s Hot Tamales, Southern Fried Vegan, the Grilled Cheese Truck, Donut Friend and dozens of others will have snacks for sale. That means Fried Chickun Waffle Sandwiches, Beer Brats in Pretzel Buns with Jambalaya, and Deep-Fried Cheeze Steaks with Buffalo Blitz Sliders are on the menu, according to Facebook. (Beyond Meat’s epic fast food booth, as debuted at Expo West, will also be there.)

Taking the stage for the live music part of the event will be Jamestown Revival, The White Buffalo, The Drowning Men, Miner, Petty Cash, Joel Jerome, and Lucy & La Mer. They’ll also have kombucha tastings, live art and a free LVVBFF glass for each attendee—just don’t drop it.

The event kicks off at 1 p.m. (12 p.m. for VIP) on Saturday, May 16 at the Rose Bowl. Tickets are $50 for GA, $80 for VIP and $30 for non-drinking admission. Food costs extra. For more details, check out the event page on Facebook.
