‘Magic’ Male Dancer Says Eating Plant-Based Helps His Performance

If you loved Magic Mike, say hello to Magic Men Live, a pop culture-inspired concert tour that recently made Hollywood, California’s Avalon venue its new home.

The cast is a diverse array of handsome dudes, one of whom credits his stellar athletic performance in part to a plant-based diet!

Male revues are nothing new (throwback to Chippendales with Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley amirite?!), but having a plant-based cast member is more 2020 than the old school shows could probably boast.

Giancarlo Annitto is a seriously-in-shape professional dancer who plays a prominent role in the show’s many sequences. He told harm.less that he tries to stay away from meat and dairy due to the effect it has on his body.

“I dance a lot so those foods create inflammation. They give me pain in my knees and my back,” he said.

He mentioned that eating more plants and avoiding meat and dairy tends to improve his performance.

“I’m an athlete, I’m dancing every day so my body takes a toll and you’re just prone to have arthritis and all these things. So when you avoid these foods your body feels better. I feel it in my body the aches in my body and also my digestion.”

I sat through the show and Annitto’s plant-powered performance was crazy impressive! I can best describe the whole experience as a super intense, sexy scroll through pop culture with a LOT of audience participation and many, many enthusiastic fans.

In 2016 and 2017, Magic Men Live (founded by Myles Hass, who also stars in the show) traveled to over 150 different cities across the U.S. and Canada, performing in front of over 200,000 people. Personally my fave part was the boy band breakdown, FYI. (Backstreet’s back, baby!)

If you wanna catch the Magic Men (and you totally should), they have show dates in Hollywood throughout February and March! You can check out their website (and videos! and photos!) at MagicMenLive.com.
