This Adorable Workout Gear Is Made from Recycled Water Bottles

Plastic is a problem. Everyone knows it’s clogging our oceans and cluttering the precious planet.

But what to do about it? (Besides cut back on our personal plastic use, obvi.)

Well, it’s all about getting creative with new ways to use the plastic we already have! After all, it isn’t going anywhere for eons.

So, it’s up to innovative humans to make it work in new ways.

Enter GoLite. The cutting-edge company has a super-cute line of activewear made from plastic bottles!

Their signature item, the ReGreen Windshell, is actually made from certified green colored plastic bottles which usually end up in landfills (or the ocean). It’s stylish, award-winning, and saves 50% on and 80% on water consumption.

WIN!

My personal favorite is the ReBound Hoody in GoSkin Multi. It’s rainbow-hued, moisture-wicking, protects from UV rays, and it’s stretchy!

The line includes everything from underwear to sports bras to leggings and beyond.

The brand has always been committed to sustainability, but utilizing plastic bottles has taken it to the next level.

“More than 80% of the introductory GoLite product line (launched Spring 2019) is developed from environmentally preferred, recycled and low energy production materials and processes,” says GoLite’s marketing manager Janine Robertson. “We are fully committed to improving upon these percentages every season. That statistic grows to 90+% for the Spring 2020 launch. After learning about our plastics problem, we were inspired to try to do something to help.”

You may be wondering — how exactly do plastic bottles become fabric?

“It is quite a process with many steps,” says Robertson. “In fact, there are so many we created a video to explain the entire method from collecting and sorting the bottles, to cleaning, melting, chipping and ultimately creating the beautiful GoLite fabrics.”

This is the future of fashion — sustainable, stylish, creative, and cruelty-free.

You can scoop up GoLite products online and via specialty retailers throughout the country. Starting in spring of 2020 you’ll be able to get them at the ever-popular outdoor retailer REI.

Check out GoLite.com for the company’s full lineup of plastic bottle gear!
