Quorn to Release Vegan Products in the U.S. in Early 2016

For years, eager eaters have been urging Quorn, the popular meat-free maker behind products like chik’n cutlets and turk’y roasts, to create vegan-friendly items — and the time has finally come.

Following the announcement of its Quorn Vegan line release in the UK, the company tells Latest Vegan News that it’ll be bringing cruelty-free options to the U.S., too. While it did release one vegan patty product in the U.S. previously (after encouragement from Compassion Over Killing), these new products are part of an even larger effort.

The company will be releasing the new vegan items in the U.S. in early 2016, a rep told Latest Vegan News. “At this time the range has not been finally confirmed it is at the moment 5 products,” the rep said, but the details should be available in the near future.

Vegan options are coming sooner to their European market, and hit store shelves starting this month.

Quorn’s CEO told FoodNavigator.USA that the company is growing 30 percent year over year in the U.S., so there’s clearly a market for more meatless eats. What’s particularly unique about Quorn is that its products are made with mycoprotein — an organism derived from the fungus family. In other recent news for the company, it just sold to its former rival, Monde Nissin, for $828M.

    • Hi AP,
Quorn products have traditionally NOT been vegan -- only vegetarian -- hence why it's big news that they will be releasing vegan products! A couple of vegan items that have already rolled out in the UK, but they won't be coming to the U.S. until early 2016. :)

  • This is wonderful news! I tried and loved Quorn products and thought they were vegan. I was very disappointed to read the ingredients and have to give them up. I hope they can make the current offerings vegans with small adjustments. I will go back so fast . . .

Also, I really wish Daiya would give up the palm oil. They make the most wonderful vegan cheese. However, it seems the palm oil industry is causing grave damage to the forest and their animals, so another product off my menu.

  • Will we in the US ever get any of the tasty products that Quorn has in the uk? Pretty much tried everything in thr US product line and its getting pretty meh.
